El Pirata

El Pirata Restaurant Playa Del Carmen Mexico

As you walk up to El Pirata, the first things that will catch your eye are its bright blue exterior and umbrella-covered tables. It seems like a very casual place with plastic chairs for people who want quick service or those sitting outside where it’s always full; this means everything is going great right? If not – well then just go ahead an order some seafood! Sometimes there might even be live music from roving musicians playing what they think best suits their mood at any given time (and if none exist then expect some videos instead).

Menu at El Pirata

El Pirata is a seafood restaurant. If you don’t like fish or ceviche you are going to have a hard time here finding something to eat.

Some of the most popular things here are the whole fried fish, fish fillets, shrimp cocktails or ceviches.

El Pirata Reviews

Great Food and Great Prices!!!

Food was excellent!!! The staff was super nice and the food was delicious and plentiful. We waited a few minutes for a table. They only accept cash (no credit cards). The fish is super fresh and delicious!! We loved this place.”

Best Seafood Restaurant EVER

We returned to El Pirata after 6 years. The place has not change. Best fish restaurant EVER. Fresh ceviche, fresh pico de gallo, fresh guacamole and whole fried fish (that was fresh before fried). My vegetarian kids ate rice and beans.
This restaurant is for locals. Very few tourists. Don’t expect anything fancy. No AC and the fans help a little with the humidity. But again – the food is simple and to die for.
Very reasonably priced. “

” Best Fish Place in Playa!

Wow – this place was so good! They bring out the freshly caught fish so you can choose! This is where all the locals go, I promise. Since I am not a big fish eater, I had shrimp. I don’t think I’ve ever had such good, perfectly cooked shrimp anywhere! While we were enjoying our lunch, a terrific band came buy and played some wonderful music. The female singer had an incredible voice! I wish I had caught the name of the band, darn it. And note that this was not your typical mariachi band strolling around and stopping at various restaurants. This was the real deal and it made our lunch experience one that is not to be forgotten! “
